Max Planck Institute

The Max Planck Institute for Pyscholinguistics in Nijmegen uses BaseX to power Lexus. Lexus is a lexicon tool that allows users to describe words and add meta data and multimedia. Adding video and audio gives linguists the possibility for instance to accurately describe the context a word is used in. BaseX provides the storage for the lexica that users create, it is a natural fit to the hierarchical structure of a lexicon. We're using the BaseX REST interface from Cocoon which makes it very easy to PUT documents and POST queries to the database. We are very pleased with the performance, stability and support for the official XQuery Update Facility standard.
